Buckle Up

I know, the post have been severely lacking the past few months.  The new addition to our family is set to arrive in about a month so we have been pretty preoccupied getting the house ready for him.  With that being said we are also trying to prepare our Toshi dog for the changes that will be directly impact him.  Toshi is pretty much our child right now. We spend everyday, all day together.  This means that he rides in the car each day on his way to and from work.  Toshi does not have the best car habits and I'm sure its my fault, since I did not correct him when he was younger but if you remember that cute picture from when we first took him home I'm sure you would have had a hard time as well.  Anyway, Toshi insist on sitting on the arm rest right next to my face.  I have tried to put him in the back seat, I have tried the front seat, I have tried pushing him off or putting a barrier from the front to the back however nothing seems to work.  He is pretty persistent and I do not like to keep pushing him while I'm trying to drive.  Since we are going to have a baby in the car very shortly we realized this is not the way we want to drive around.  Enter the doggie seat belt.  I've had it for about a week now and so far its not too bad.  Toshi is not a fan and he can still get up open the arm rest, however if I push him to the front seat he seems to just stay there and I do not have to worry about him when I have to use the  breaks or make tight turns, this is a huge deal.  Once the baby gets here I do plan on placing him in the back seat with his seat belt, which will ultimately keep him from getting up front and make the car safe for everyone.

Mahalo from Toshi

Toshi recently spent a fun week at his grandmas house while mom and dad went on vacation.  He was not forgotten while we were gone.  Once we got home Toshi received his Hawaiian pineapple gift.  I think he was a big fan and it made up for leaving him behind for a week.  Believe it or not it is still in one piece after one night, although it does have a small hole so I don't see it lasting much longer....We missed you Toshi dog!

Dog Park Adventure

This afternoon we decided to take Toshi to the local dog park.  He was a little apprehensive at first but eventually he made some friends and had some fun.

It looks like this is a place we can come back to again really soon.

We Heart Toshi

This years Valentine's Day was another first for Toshi dog.  We celebrated the day with a special treat.

Happy Valentines Day Toshi!  Our lives would be pretty boring without your cute little face around every day.

Super Bowl Sunday

During football season we are pretty much a divided house.  Dan is a San Diego native, which of course makes him a Charger fan.  I grew up in New England and have always been a big Patriot fan.  Toshi dog tends to stay neutral on his football team choice, unless one of the teams is in the Super Bowl like this past Sunday.  Here is a picture of Toshi showing his support for his moms team.  Unfortunately the Patriots were not able to pull off the win against the other team who shall remain nameless :(  However, Toshi had tons of fun socializing with all of our Super Bowl party guests.  There's always next year.....

Toshi and the Baby

Tonight we babysat our niece Lizzy.  Lizzy has been to our house a few times and Toshi has always been a bit uneasy around her.  Now that she is getting a bit older Toshi was a bit more interested in her and she was a bit more interested in him.  All in all it was a pretty successful night with Toshi and the baby, which is good news for us :)

Happy Birthday to Me

We were lucky enough to get Toshi  on video "singing" along with his happy birthday toy.  If you listen closely you can hear him "singing" in the background.  This pretty much went on all night.  This is one toy that is not allowed upstairs with us at bedtime.

Today is Toshi's first birthday.  We celebrated by having a little birthday party for Toshi and giving him a few presents.   Even though he wasn't huge fan of his birthday hat he does seem to love the birthday cake and luckily for us he has figured out how to get the birthday song to play over and over again.  Happy 1st Birthday Toshi!

Merry Christmas!

This year was Toshi's first Christmas and boy did he get spoiled.  Not only did his mom and dad buy him a bunch of new toys and treats but all his grandparents gave him great gifts as well.  Toshi has had plenty to play with the past few days.

It was so much fun watching Toshi get so excited about all his new toys and treats.  Merry Christmas Toshi!

Fun Days

This past week we enjoyed a stay-cation in San Diego.  The weather was great and we were able to have some fun day trips with Toshi. 

We enjoyed a hike with out friends Jose and Toshiba.  I believe this ended up being the largest hike Toshi has been on so far.  I don't know why we were ever worried about him.  He had the most energy out of all of us and showed no signs of stopping even once we reached the bottom.

On Saturday we headed down to the Littly Italy Farmers Market.  Toshi is not a big fan of crowded places but he enjoyed the small amount of time we spent there.  He met another Shiba dog and even made a new friend.

Sorry!  We are a little behind on our Thanksgiving post.  This was Toshi's first Thanksgiving.  He celebrated by enjoying some turkey.

After staring at his turkey for about 15 minutes or so Toshi enjoyed every last bite.

Lunch time snack

Today when we came back from lunch we noticed that my pen was left in the middle of the hallway.  We also noticed it was in a slightly different condition from when I left it earlier in the day.

Toshi is now sporting a temporary tattoo due to the destruction of my pen.

Happy Halloween!

Yesterday was Toshi's first Halloween.  We celebrated this occasion with a cute costume and a Halloween treat.

Bye bye toys

Over the past few weeks Toshi has began to destroy all of his toys.  At first we thought it was only an unlucky few but then he started to tear apart his favorite toys as well.  He always starts the same way, by taking their eyes out.  I guess he figures that this way they wont be able to see him and run away anymore.  Once the eyes are out then the fun part begins.....the insides are removed.  This is always fun for us because we get to clean up all of the stuffing and sometimes beads that are left all over the house.  As of now, Toshi has officially killed all of the toys he has.  I think we are going to wait until this phase passes before we start buying him more, plus he stills has the same amount of fun either way.

I know we have been lacking in the post department lately, but its been for a good cause.  We have been re-doing our kitchen and are at the point where everything is going back together.  Toshi has been an important part of this process.  I was able to snap some pictures of him working with his dad and grandpa on the cabinet installation.

He can be such a good little helper sometimes.

It's raining, it's pouring...

Yesterday was a pretty rainy day in San Diego and Toshi definitely proved he is a Southern California dog.  As soon as the rain started coming down Toshi was permanently located by our back doors.  He just couldn't understand what all this stuff was falling from the sky.  I couldn't believe this was the first time we've had any substantial rain since we brought him home in March.

Its off to work we go

Toshi is a very lucky doggie, he gets to come to the office with mom and dad everyday.  I would say getting ready for work is his favorite part of the day.

Weekday Hike

Mom and Dad have been getting a bit lazy so I thought I would start whipping them into shape with a fun hike. Once we made it to the top we got to watch an amazing sunset and I even got to meet another doggie hiker. Next time though, we bring more water!
